Sense story

Crash
By: Joe, Lizzie, Brittany, Carson, and Ashley

As I walk down the street, I am already in a bad mood. All I can concentrate on was how angry I am to be walking down a street in my soaking wet socks and shoes. SCREECH......CRASH! Smoke appeared and a tire rolled down the street. Fumes and smoke filled the air, something was obviously on fire. I ran ahead and found a blue delivery truck overturned with a blazing fire running all throughout it.. Broken glass, metal scraps, bread, and wine bottles were scattered upon the ground. The wine did not help; it contributed to the fire. I could taste the burning rubber. The truck, I realized, came from a local grocery store. Then someone yelled, “Call 911! There’s a man inside that truck!” He had a cut on his forehead and what looked like a broken arm. I started to run toward the truck. I yelled, “Can anyone hear me? Hello?”

“Ya, I need help. Get me out of this truck!” he shouted.

“What’s your name? I need to know your name.”

“It’s Chuck…Chuck Spenollie.” I heard the police and the ambulance sirens from down the street. Flashing lights blinking in the distance.

“They will get you out in just a second.” But then the sirens were getting farther and farther away and the lights were fading too. “Someone get that ambulance back here!” I screamed. Somebody nearby called 911 again.

“What…where are they going? They have to get me out of this truck!” he yelled with fear in his voice.

“Look Chuck, don’t worry. I’ll talk to you until they come and get you. Do you have any--“

“NO JUST GET ME OUT OF HERE!” The fire company arrived; half of them attacked the fire, the other half using the Jaws of Life to save Chuck. I kept Chuck calm, although I was scared out of my mind by the scene. They released Chuck; they pulled him out gently because of his injuries. The police kept the public out. I followed Chuck to the ambulance. "Don't worry Chuck, I'll be right with you. I won't leave until your at the hospital."I smiled at him. He smiled back.

"Thank you so much."
